the lost wanderer

hi my friend! i am assuming you have found your place here reading this post because you, like me, are completely lost. i have honestly labeled myself, “the lost wanderer,” because at times in this season, that is how i have felt, literally completely lost and like i am just wandering through my life. i feel like i am walking in circles just blinded by every confusing situation or conversation that has taken place.

maybe you are to. well i am guessing you are since we’re meeting here ( by the way, i am so glad you are here reading this. you mean a lot to me <3 ) honestly though, i know how you feel. i have found myself relating this "lost wanderingness” to Joshua in his book in the Bible. Joshua is given a command from Jesus in which Joshua is very uncomfortable with. he is told to take his people and help each of them cross the Jordan river safely and successfully, a job Moses had previously before he died. overwhelmed with this task, Joshua is almost lost in the ways he can actually succeed in the task Jesus has given him. but the crazy part about Joshua’s lostness is Jesus’ beautiful hand. Jesus constantly reassures Joshua to be strong and courageous and that Jesus will give him every place he steps (J 1:7 & 1:3).

we get lost. we reach a point where we need a roadmap, a mile marker, or even just a second turn. we get stuck in the constant circle that life is, forgetting who our ultimate destination should always be. for me, it’s confusion that throws me off and overthinking that keeps me circling. for you, it may be people pleasing or even a breakup or maybe you can’t even pinpoint the one thing but you know for sure you’re lost. either way, this whole circling thing is throwing you for a loop and if you’re like me, you want out. in Joshua’s story, he tells us the easiest way out is to grab hold of the hand of the Almighty.

even with the feeling of knowing nothing and feeling completely lost in how a ginormous task like Joshua’s could be accomplished, Joshua allowed Jesus to be near. he said yes to the roadmap and watched as Jesus worked, moved, and navigated his life just the way it should be. and if you read to the end of Joshua, through his courageousness and willingness to take a hand, he reached the other side and successfully got all of his people across the Jordan.

sometimes it just means taking a hand. even when we can’t see through the dizziness of life’s circles, sometimes we just have to be brave, pull out that map, and believe in the Navigator, our ultimate guide. He knows where He’s taking us. He knows every twist, every turn, every bump in the road, and every rest. He knows our route. it’s easy to get lost, and by golly gee if you asked me how to get to the next exit in your current situation, i probably couldn’t even tell you. but what i could tell you is to take a hand. reach up, take His hand, and let Him bring you onto the road He wants you. from what i am learning, being a lost wanderer is most beautiful in Jesus’ field.
